Galston High School has been selected to join the NSW Department of Education’s 2026 High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) Partner School Program, a move set to bring a significant boost to specialist learning facilities and talent development across the campus.
The competitive program targets priority schools with growing enrolments, diverse learning needs and a strong capacity for future growth. Galston High met those criteria, positioning the school to receive targeted funding to expand opportunities for high-potential and gifted students and to embed the state’s HPGE policy more deeply into everyday teaching and learning.
The investment will support a wide-ranging upgrade of specialist spaces, reflecting the school’s emphasis on academic achievement alongside creativity and practical, real-world skills. Planned works include modernised woodwork rooms that meet current industry standards, refreshed visual arts, textiles, and design areas, purpose-built music studios, and revamped STEM laboratories. Sporting facilities will also be upgraded, with resurfaced courts, new markings and fencing, along with a revitalised front-of-school precinct.
School leaders say the funding will build on Galston High’s reputation for an inclusive culture in which students are known, supported, and challenged to aim high. By expanding future-focused learning pathways, the program is expected to enhance both engagement and achievement across the school community.
Prospective families and community members will have the opportunity to see the changes taking shape at the Galston High School Open Day on Wednesday, 25 February, when the school opens its doors and showcases how the new investment is creating opportunities for students now and into the future.
