Rockets Tenpin Bowling Team Receives $3,000 Donation

The Rockets Tenpin Bowling Team has received a generous $3,000 donation from Galston Bendigo Bank to support their travel to the 37th National Tenpin Bowling Championships for Persons with a Disability, set to be held in Queensland next year.

Formerly known as The Hornsby Rockets, the team comprises bowlers aged between 33 and 60, each living with a diverse range of disabilities. Despite their challenges, the bowlers continue to demonstrate remarkable skill, commitment, and passion for the sport.

Throughout the year, team members—often accompanied by parents and carers—travel extensively to compete in tournaments across New South Wales and beyond. Recent events have taken them to Shellharbour, Orange, Canberra, Wetherill Park, Rooty Hill, and Wagga Wagga.

In June, the team will head to the Suncity High Performance Tenpin Bowling Centre at Alexandra Headland on the Sunshine Coast, as Queensland prepares to host the national championships for 2026. The Rockets have a strong history of success at these competitions, with several members having represented New South Wales and earned numerous medals and trophies over the years.

Team representatives say the financial support from Galston Bendigo Bank will significantly ease the burden of upcoming travel costs. They expressed deep gratitude, noting that without this assistance, attending the national championships would be far more challenging.

“Support like this makes an enormous difference,” the team said. “We are incredibly thankful to Galston Bendigo Bank for helping ensure our bowlers can once again compete on the national stage.”
