The Probus Club of the Hills recently took one of its very popular Mystery Coach Tours. After morning tea in the botanical gardens at Picton, members were surprised to find ourselves at the Thirlmire Rail Museum.
We were given an excellent tour of the museum and even provided with lunch and a return trip from Thirlmire to Buxton in the historic Railmotor CPH 18. Other recent Mystery Tours have included the Coal Loader at Waverton, and the Q Station.
The Club meets on the second Wednesday of most months at the Galston Club with guest speakers covering a range of topics, from IT security to Winston Churchill’s drinking habits! Other monthly activities include a walking group, bowls, golf, a Grumpy Old Blokes group and a book club.
Each year, we have a week away in places like Albury, Jindabine, and Broken Hill, with lots of entertaining side trips. We are a small but very friendly Probus Club and would like to attract more members living around our base in Galston.
