How Your Groceries Can Make a Difference

Every Tuesday, 19-year-old Harley arrives at Warrah Organic Farm Shop in Dural excited for the day. He participates in Warrah’s Discovery program for young adults with disabilities, and one of his favourite tasks is packing the weekly seasonal, organic produce subscriptions. Once packed, the produce boxes are delivered to several local collection points such as Dural, St Ives, Hornsby, Beaumont Hills and Lane Cove.

“I’m so good at this,” Harley says proudly. “I can do it quickly.” And he can. Sometimes he even packs the box for his own family’s weekly subscription.

Since joining Warrah in early 2025, Harley has embraced his work on the biodynamic farm and in the organic farm shop. He also helps the Warrah maintenance team and assists with packing room clean up. Each task builds confidence, routine, and a sense of purpose, all part of his work-readiness program.

Harley is just one of many young people whose lives are enriched through Warrah’s unique social enterprise. Other students and participants also learn new skills, such as serving customers, working at the register, baking sourdough bread, packing special orders and stacking shelves.

With every purchase at Warrah Organic Farm Shop, whether it’s a bunch of farm fresh greens, a loaf of artisan sourdough, or a full seasonal box, shoppers are supporting meaningful, hands-on opportunities for students and participants with disabilities.

While most food in Australia travels thousands of kilometres before it lands in your kitchen, some up to 70,000 kilometres. Warrah’s harvest travels just metres from farm to shelf, resulting in fresher food, fewer food miles, and a genuine connection to where your produce comes from.

Warrah Organic Farm Shop offers a beautiful selection of certified organic fruit, vegetables, groceries, bread, dairy, eggs and pantry items, much of the produce is grown onsite.

At Warrah, you’re not just shopping local, you’re empowering people like Harley and his fellow participants and students, to learn workplace skills and develop independence. Warrah’s Organic Farm Shop is a welcoming space, and a heartwarming shopping experience. We hope to see you there soon.
