Galston Couple’s Bedtime Rocked by $40 Million Oz Lotto Revelation

A Galston couple quietly nodding off to sleep were abruptly awoken by the news they’re now $40 million richer from tonight’s Oz Lotto draw.

The Sydney Hills District residents held the only division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw 1587 on Tuesday 16th July 2024, delivering them the entire $40 million jackpot.

“You’re joking! Oh my god!” the stunned woman screamed when an official from The Lott called immediately after tonight’s draw to confirm the win.

“Is this really for real?” her husband questioned.

“I’m just gobsmacked. I just can’t believe it,” the happy woman added.

“I was just nodding off, falling asleep when you rang.

“I generally play Powerball, but I thought I’d give Oz Lotto a chance.

“In our dreams we’ve thought about what we’d do with a big win, but you never think it’s going to come true.

“It’s unreal!”

When asked about their plans for the $40 million Oz Lotto loot, the down-to-earth husband shared he’d still wake up and go to work on Wednesday despite becoming a newly minted multi-millionaire.

“This is going to give us some time. It buys us time to be able to do the things we want to do. And help the people in your life that have helped you and you want to help them back,” he shared.

“I always say that I’ve already won the lottery because I live in Australia, I’m healthy and I met my beautiful wife.”

The couple’s winning 18-game QuickPick was purchased at Kenthurst Cellars, Shop 1, Kenthurst Village Shopping Centre, 2 Nelson Street, Kenthurst. So far this year, 12 division one winning entries in the Western and Blue Mountains region have collectively taken home more than $82.45 million in prize money.

The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1587 on Tuesday 16th July 2024 were 18, 1, 42, 33, 15, 36 and 10, while the supplementary numbers were 9, 12 and 27.

Last financial year, Australia’s official lotteries contributed more than $1.6 billion via state lottery taxes and donations to help community initiatives, such as hospitals, health research, disaster relief and education.
