Arcadia RFS was invited to take part in the Arcadia Public School’s Walk to School morning. This is an event that we look forward to every year. Despite very wet weather all week, it did not rain on the morning of Friday May 10th, and the walk went ahead as planned.
The journey starts at the Arcadia Fire Station where everyone gathers in preparation to begin the walk to the school, and it is always a terrific opportunity to show off the fire trucks and catch up with everyone. The plastic fire helmets being handed out were also a hit this year!
Escorted by two of our fire trucks, Arcadia 1 Alpha and Arcadia 1 Bravo, and led by the piper, the kids, teachers, parents, dogs and RFS all set off for the short walk to the school yard.
On arrival the Arcadia Public School P&C cooked a delicious breakfast of BBQ egg and bacon rolls, served along with hot Milo. Over breakfast, we had a wonderful time talking with teachers, parents, and students. A few hotly contested games of table tennis also took place between students and RFS members.
We would like to express our thanks to the Arcadia Public School for arranging the Walk to School event and inviting us. This has become a special event in the local community, and we really enjoy being part of it.
