NEIGHBOURHOOD SAFER PLACES: YOUR LAST RESORT
Glenorie is no stranger to the threat of bushfires, and it is crucial to be well-prepared for emergencies, and that includes knowing your nearest Neighbourhood Safer Place. A Neighbourhood Safer Place is an area identified as a last refuge during a bushfire emergency.

It is essential that you are aware of your closest Neighbourhood Safer Places and include these areas in your bushfire survival plan. While it is important to know the location of these safer place, it is also essential that you take the time understand the routes leading to these places, considering alternatives in case the primary route becomes impassable due to fire or other hazards.

However, not every area has an official Neighbourhood Safer Place. If that’s the case for your location, identify other safe spots nearby, like well-prepared homes, distant shopping centres, or open spaces away from the bush.

In Glenorie, the Les Shore Oval Clubhouse is our designated Neighbourhood Safer Place. Let’s make sure we know it well and incorporate this knowledge into our bushfire survival plans. Being prepared is our best defence!
