I know most of 2022 has been a very difficult period not just for users of Galston Road but also for motorists who use the surrounding road network.

I very much appreciate the patience shown by affected residents during this frustrating time. The final repairs, being undertaken with night work, should be completed in November.

Great news about a confirmed sighting of a healthy platypus in Middle Dural, early this year.

This is an important discovery, and I am pleased to support a grant to Council so they can work with volunteer groups to undertake studies across the Hornsby electorate in the hope of uncovering evidence of other platypuses in our local area.

The local NSW Volunteer Awards event was held recently. It was pleasing to see long-time volunteer and popular Galston resident Barry Lees be recognized.

Barry was deservedly awarded both Senior Volunteer and the overall Volunteer of the Year Award for the Upper North Shore area. Barry Lees has generously given his valuable time and knowledge to a wide variety of community organizations for over three decades and continues to do so. I also congratulate Mt Colah resident and St John Ambulance volunteer, Tiffany Willis, for being awarded Young Volunteer of the Year.

Finally, as the Hornsby War Memorial approaches its centenary next year, I am very happy to support a Community War Memorial Fund grant to refurbish the Cenotaph which is the centre of our local community during ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
