I am an Australian born Pakistani muslim. I will be attending year 11 at Mount St Benedict College. I have a passion for humanitarian studies and enjoy reading. I am 15 years old and was born on the 21st March.

The 21st March is the International Day for Elimination of Racial Discrimination otherwise known as Harmony Day. For the past 2 years, I have done something to mark Harmony Day by trying to give back to the community.

In 2016, I hosted an event at the Careight Base in Westmead to celebrate Harmony Day. I raised just under $4000 and all the proceeds went to Careight. In 2016, I was also nominated for John Lincoln Youth Community Service Award as part of the Oce of the Order of Australia.

In 2017, I cut off 17cm of my hair and donated it to a charity called the Little Princess Trust. This year I hosted an event to celebrate Harmony Day in order to signify and spread a message of unity. It was held on Sunday 25th March at the Careight base in Westmead.

Careflight are an aeronautical rapid response team that provide medical assistance to patients involved in emergencies. They are often the rst people on the scene and are reliant on donations from the public. They don’t discriminate when assisting patients. Harmony Day is about coming together to celebrate our similarities and acknowledge our cultural , religious and spiritual differences. It is about recognising that we live in a multicultural society, but at the end of the day we are all Australians aiming to achieve a better future in a better world, where we are surrounded by love and respect.
