We’re still celebrating the success of the annual St Benedict’s fete that was held at the end of August. Due to the hard work and generosity of so many people, the event raised close to $35,000 but, most importantly, everyone had a wonderful time on the day. Special mention must be made of the ongoing commitment Charlie Camilleri and his family have given to the fete since it was first held decades ago. Charlie is retiring after 40 years of involvement and we’ll miss him, but we all agree that he has earnt a break. Thanks Charlie!
Confirmation and Sacramental Program
Confirmation was celebrated at St Benedict’s on Friday 23rd September, a joyful occasion for a number of children in the parish. Earlier the candidates for confirmation were introduced to the parishioners at 9 am Mass on Father’s Day. This meant that congratulations and good wishes were flying in all directions, with candidates and dads all being given special recognition. The Father’s Day Mass was followed by one of those famous St Benedict’s barbecue brunches – it’s hard to concentrate on singing the final hymn when delicious barbie smells are wafting through the doors! Thanks, too, to the barbecue cooks who do such a good job on so many occasions.
