GET IN FAST FOR REMAGINE ENTRIES NOW OPEN

Hornsby Shire Council’s Remagine exhibition is calling for entries, with $10,000 in total prize money on offer.

Held in partnership with the Hornsby Art Society, artists are invited to submit works that promote the concept of “reduce, reuse and recycle”.

“This is a great opportunity for artists to demonstrate their commitment to a more sustainable environment, while also helping to educate others”, Hornsby Shire Mayor Philip Ruddock said.

“Last year we attracted a broader range of entries by adding a new category, Digital Art – Stills, which was extremely successful and will be continued this year.

“Our new category for Remagine 2020 is Painting/ Drawing/Printmaking, to further encourage more artists to enter this exciting art prize.”

This year’s theme is “Fast fashion, fast food, fast running out of natural resources”.

Fast fashion and fast food are major contributors to landfill.

Australians go through, on average, more than 27 kilograms of clothing per person each year, with more than 369 million kilograms of textile waste going to landfill and charity stores every year. Single-use plastics from fast food are also an increasing challenge for our environment.

“Reuse and recycling are important practices that we encourage for all Hornsby Shire residents, which is why we so strongly support this prize,” Mayor Ruddock said.

Remagine 2020 categories are: Mixed Media 3D/Mixed Media 2D, Painting/Drawing/ Printmaking and Digital Art – Stills.

Remagine is an annual art prize promoting sustainability, through its exhibition held at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre, Hornsby, 4 – 28 June 2020.

Entries close on Sunday 17 May 2020. Visit hornsby.nsw.gov.au/ remagine to find out more.
