GALSTON HIGH SCHOOL OPEN DAY 2020

Galston High School welcomes prospective students and their families to the upcoming Open Day on Wednesday, 11th March. Open Day is an opportunity to see, experience and feel what Galston High School can offer and why it is a compelling choice for all students.

“The 2020 Galston High School Open Day allows you to meet the teachers and current students, inspect the facilities and experience the positive environment fostered within the school,” said Ms Jillian Tourlas, principal of the school.

“The Open Day begins with a short information session outlining the depth of our curriculum offerings and academic performance but the real focus is on giving prospective students and their families hands-on time with the school to see, experience and feel. It’s the combination of small community with big opportunity that makes Galston High School a great place to learn.”

“School tours are the focus of the day and are led by our student leaders. Who better to give a real insight how our school operates?” she added. “As you tour the school, you will see our teaching and learning in action, our renewed facilities and hear about our key initiatives, opportunities and achievements.”

During Open Day, prospective students and their families will learn about:

  • Galston High School’s exemplary record of HSC achievement
  • Extension classes for high potential students in Year 7
  • The broad curriculum catering for academic and vocational pathways
  • The extensive student leadership roles that develop our students
  • The outstanding pastoral care program
  • The variety of sporting, agricultural and extracurricular opportunities offered
  • The well-regarded music programs including bands, vocal ensemble and musicals By Luke Cosgrove
  • The Year 7 Orientation Camp
  • Scholarships for Year 6 students living within the Galston High School enrolment area
  • The Duke of Edinburgh Scheme

“At the conclusion of the Open Day, families are invited to join our student leaders and senior staff for morning tea at the historic Waddell Cottage. This is an informal opportunity to ask questions and get to know more about Galston High School,” Ms Tourlas said. “We look forward to meeting you at our Open Day, where you can see, experience and feel what Galston High School has to offer.”
