GALSTON RURAL FIRE BRIGADE NEWS

Strike Teams
Galston firies have been busy over the Christmas and holiday break in strike teams across NSW. We travelled north and south of the state including, Glen Davis, Bulga, Hill Top, Katooma and Warragamba and we were also tasked with being on standby at the station for any local callouts during the very bad weather days.

Local grass fire
Galston firies recently helped fight a grass fire at Bloodwood Rd in Fiddletown, caused by sparking powerlines on a very hot day. Thanks to all the other local brigades who responded quickly and helped us knock down a fire that could have become far worse considering the conditions on the day.

Thanks for a great 2019
Following some intense days fighting the NSW fires we took advantage of the cooler weather to run our annual Galston Village Santa Run and our inaugural Santa Photos. Thank you to everyone who had their photo taken with Santa or who greeted him as he roamed the streets of Galston with the firetrucks. What a difference a day can make – the day before we had crew out facing some truly savage fires on a blistering day… then the next day the same crew were dressed in tinsel and Santa hats all for the local community. The love and support from the community fuels the RFS and our brigade. It was great to see the community spirit alive and well in Galston!
