Wilberforce Park probably isn’t on many bucket lists. It doesn’t have a famous view or a café attached. But for the people who live nearby, it’s one of those places that quietly anchors the neighbourhood — and Hawkesbury City Council is now asking residents to help decide what it looks like a decade from now. The window to have your say runs from 1 June to 28 June 2026.
The council is writing a Plan of Management for the park, which sounds dry but is actually pretty consequential. These plans determine what gets built, what gets protected, how the space is maintained, and what kinds of use are encouraged.
Get it right, and the park becomes more useful to more people. Get it wrong — or worse, don’t ask anyone — and you end up with a space that serves nobody in particular.
If you want to talk it through in person, the council will be at Wilberforce Shops on Thursday, 11 June from 11 am to 1 pm. No appointment needed. Written submissions can go online at www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au, by email to [email protected], or by post to Hawkesbury City Council, PO Box 046, Windsor NSW 2756. Everything closes at the end of business on 28 June 2026.
It takes about five minutes to fill in a submission. For a park that’ll be there long after the paperwork is done, that seems like a fair trade.
