Middle Dural Public School

Parents and grandparents were invited to a special assembly at the school to mark Book Week and Education Week and children were encouraged to wear something that represented part of their life outside school.

The children shared five activities based on stories. They included: aboriginal rock paintings; European influences inspired by author May Gibbs; Australian Bush Poets; Literature of the 80’s and 90’s inspired by Jeannie Baker’s collages and Stories from refugees inspired by Anh Do. Parents and grandparents showed great enthusiasm in taking part in the activities.

The day finished with a circle session of shared stories from all present. The stories included memories of World War two bombing in England, being strapped for whistling in a kindy class in the 1940’s, watching TV when there was no colour and without a remote control and enjoying the scout movement
