Young Chefs Learn with the Best

Hills Grammar pre-schoolers enjoy the facilities and learning opportunities of a Kindergarten to Year 12 School. There is always much excitement as the youngsters prepare to go to ‘big school’ for a learning experience, whether it be Art, Music, Languages or science. Their journey from the Early Childhood Education Centre to the Hospitality Kitchen began with picking the herbs from the ECEC sensory garden, washing them and then packing them ready to use in their cooking.

The Kids in the Kitchen program teaches the children about nutrition, teamwork, safety in the Kitchen and the process of preparing food to eat. Here, Year 12 Hospitality students work with the young chefs to prepare Rice Paper Rolls. The Year 12 students are studying the Hospitality VET course for their HSC and will have completed their Certificates 1 and 11 as well as a Statement of attainment towards the Cert 111. The School’s state-of- the-art kitchen and qualified staff have proved an attractive option for senior students to choose this practical, industry-based course for their HSC.

Who knows, Hills Grammar may be cultivating the next Neil Perry or Poh.
