Club Visit Blue Mountains & Zig-Zag Railway Charm
The Club continues its busy program of activities for the forthcoming period with morning teas, lunches with interesting guest speakers and tours.
The May outing was a coach trip to the Blue mountains. Following morning tea the group then had a ride on the restored Zig-Zag railway and appreciated the restoration work to service.
The line climbs the western flank of the Blue Mountains, using railway zig zags to gain height. The ride from Clarence to Bottom Points and back in 90 minutes of pure scenic magic — crossing the stunning Clarence viaducts and diving through the historic Zig Zag Tunnel.
This historic railway now restored after damaging bushfires proved to be well worth the visit. Following this the group had a very nice lunch to prepare the for the trip home. Following lunch the group rejoined the coach for the relaxing trip home. A rewarding and enjoyable day for all.
The club intends to keep its members active with ongoing events. In June the club will travel the Parramatta River by Ferry between Parramatta and Circular Quay to see Sydney from a different perspective to looking out a car window on a busy road.
The Club meets on the at 11.00am on the 4th Wednesday of the month at Glenorie RSL and new members are welcome.
