The Hills Police Area Command arrested two males at different times and locations yesterday, Wednesday, 18 September 2024, for Mid and High Range Drink Driving.
At 12:05 in the morning, officers observed a 55-year-old male driving north on Windsor Road, Rouse Hill. As the vehicle approached the intersection of Commercial Road, police noticed it swerving in and out of its lane.
According to police, the driver stopped at the traffic lights at the intersection of Windsor Road and Commercial Road. When it turned green, the 55-year-old driver reacted slowly and then turned onto Commercial Road.
Police activated their warning devices, signalling the driver to stop. The driver continued for 150 meters before pulling over.
“A roadside breath test was conducted, returning a positive result. The driver was arrested and taken to Castle Hill Police Station, where a breath analysis indicated a blood alcohol concentration of 0.121 grams per 210 litres of breath,” the Hills Police Area Command reported.
Due to the mid-range reading, the driver’s licence was immediately suspended. He was issued a Court Attendance Notice to appear in Parramatta Local Court next month.
On the other hand, at 4:20 PM on the same day, a 45-year-old male was observed driving a white Toyota Corolla sedan inside Oakhill Village Shopping Centre carpark, Castle Hill.
Police received multiple calls from concerned members of the public who reported seeing the individual stumbling towards his vehicle and appearing intoxicated.
According to Police, witnesses noted that the man struggled to maneuver the vehicle, narrowingly avoiding collisions with parked cars and a fence.
Police arrived quickly and observed the vehicle being driven within the carpark. The driver was asked to produce his driver’s license, and while searching through a backpack on the passenger seat, police observed an open bottle of spirits, mostly empty.
The driver, unable to produce a license, provided his name and date of birth.
“A roadside breath test was conducted, returning a positive result. The driver was arrested and transported to Castle Hill Police Station, where a breath analysis indicated a blood alcohol concentration of 0.254 grams per 210 litres of breath,” according to the Hills PAC.
The individual allegedly stated he consumed a significant amount of spirits from the bottle found in his backpack. He was issued a Court Attendance Notice to appear before Parramatta Local Court.
His licence was suspended on the spot.
