Ella Horton of Glenorie has some high family achievement to live up to, with both her grandmothers being recognised in this year’s Australia Day Honour’s list.
Dr Diana O’Halloran from Glenorie was made an Officer in the General Division (AO) for her distinguished service to medicine in general practice and Judy Horton from Middle Dural was awarded a medal (OAM) for the promotion of horticulture and gardening. Diana and Judy celebrated recently by enjoying lunch together at the Sasanqua Café on Cattai Ridge Road.
Ella, who graduated last year from Galston High School, is possibly the only young person in Australia who has had both her grandmothers simultaneously honoured, but in two entirely different fields.
Diana and Judy will be o cially presented with their awards at Government House Sydney in May.
