Hills Grammar recently welcomed thirty two students from Takeda High, East Hiroshima. Over the past eight years the two schools have fostered a relationship which is mutually beneficial in developing the students’ international perspectives and language skills. It is not all hard work as the visitors also enjoy a very Australian social and creative arts program to complement their class work. Forty-three Hills Grammar Japanese language students from Year 8-11 will be visiting Takeda High in July this year in the School’s fifth biennial visit to Japan. Head of Languages, Belinda Gerometta explains, “There is enormous value in cultivating a sister school relationship such as ours; in addition to the language immersion programs, the invaluable cultural experiences, friendships forged and exchange of ideas inspires our students to view the world from a more global perspective.”
