Galston Aquatic and Leisure Centre reopened on Monday 18th September following the temporary closure by Hornsby Shire Council to carry out much needed structural repairs and renovations.
Repairs turned out to be larger than expected with a full internal renovation on the pool, change rooms, upgrade of the centre and resurfacing of the concourse.
The pool’s terracotta sewage and drainage pipes were removed from the base of the pool and were replaced with new pipes. The pool’s walls were also repaired.
The pool has now been waterproofed, retiled and repainted ready for swim season.
Work has also been undertaken on the change rooms. The showers in the change rooms were waterproofed, retiled and repainted to prevent further deterioration.
It is business as usual with enrolments for learn to swim classes now open for term 4.
