To begin with, the RFS have put on exhibition the Draft Bushfire Risk Management Plan. I encourage all rural property owners to review and comment on this plan as it predominantly impacts the rural area. The plan has generated categories of risk and subsequent measures proposed to mitigate that risk.

The plan will be exhibited between 15th May and 30th June both in all of our library facilities and online. The online links may be accessed via Council’s “Have Your Say” portal or direct to the RFS site: https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/plan-andprepare/ managing-bush-fire-risk/ bush-fire-management-committees/ hornsby-ku-ring-gai

Rural Round UpTO OTHER UPDATES…
• Arcadia Rd upgrade: A number of residents have commented on the slow progress of the stage three works along Arcadia Rd. I was disappointed to learn that Transport NSW has restricted our onsite activity to only the hours between 9.30am to 2.30pm weekdays. This is enormously frustrating as effectively, with set up and close down, we are only achieving half days. So please be patient as I am sure the end result will be worth it.

• The Marston seniors development has been unsuccessful in attempts to mediate their desired changes to their access and traffic management obligations. Therefore, a hearing has been set down for September. Once these issues are ruled upon, we can expect the planned arrangements for pedestrian and driver safety to progress at the two entry points.

Rural Round Up• The arrival of key roof components has meant full steam ahead for the Aquatic Centre. After many material setbacks, the revised completion time is September.

• A number of key rural road projects have finally been funded and will progress this month. Look out for improvements to:

1. Cairns Road
2. Moores Road
3. Harrison Lane
4. Cotswold Ave
5. Hunt Ave
6. Bayfield Road
