On Sunday 14th October from 9.00am there will be a celebration of the arrival of Joseph and James Roughley in Australia on that day 200 hundred years ago. The venue will be Roughley House, ‘The Pines’ 656a Old Northern Rd. Dural.
All descendants, family and friends are invited to attend this milestone in the history of Dural.
James Roughley married Harriet Kentwell, of Castle Hill, in 1825 at St Johns church Parramatta and were to become one of the original settler families in the district.
Like many who were convicted of a minor crime and transported, through hard work and perseverance, the Roughleys become wealthy landowners and farmers and respected members of the community.
The day will feature a welcoming speech, tree planting, photo opportunities, music, house inspection and family memorabilia.
