The Hills Shire Council has introduced a new online tool called Recycle Mate, aimed at making recycling easier for local residents. This innovative platform is now accessible on the Council’s website and serves as an instant guide for recycling.
With Recycle Mate, Hills residents can click on a map to quickly locate nearby recycling facilities or search for specific items they wish to recycle. The initiative was announced by Dr. Michelle Byrne, Mayor of The Hills Shire, who described the tool as a potential game-changer for households looking to contribute to environmental sustainability.
“Recycle Mate takes the second-guessing out of the equation for our residents who are wanting to do their part for the environment,” Mayor Byrne stated. She emphasized that while the community is already adept at recycling common items, the platform provides a solution for more complex recycling challenges.
Users simply need to input the item they are looking to dispose of, and Recycle Mate will reveal whether it belongs in their red, yellow, or green-lidded bin, or if it can be dropped off at other recycling locations.
The platform features an extensive search engine covering over 8,500 items, ensuring that residents have access to up-to-date recycling information at all times.
For more details, residents are encouraged to visit The Hills Shire Council’s website at www.thehills.nsw.gov.au and search for “Recycle Mate.”
