Book, Music and Lyrics by Lionel Bart
Orchestral arrangements by William David Brohn By arrangement with Hal Leonard Australia Pty. Ltd, exclusive representative of Cameron Mackintosh and the Southbrook Group
Everyone loves a good story performed at the theatre… add some incredible music and amazing choreography and you’ve got the ingredients for a sure winner. What if it starts with an orphan struggling to survive in a Workhouse? Surely your heart will melt when you see what this little guy has to put up with. Follow his struggle through his time as an undertaker’s assistant, his escape and short trip to the heart of London where our little guy joins Fagin’s gang of thieves. People of all shapes, sizes and all manner of ideals affect this young fellow’s life.
If you’re keen to find out just what this is all about, ‘consider yourself ’ invited to the latest production by Dural Musical Society. The opening night of the musical ‘Oliver!’ is just around the corner, and we can guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
Director Julian Floriano is no stranger to the DMS stage and its audiences, but for this show, rather than perform, he jumped at the chance of directing the production. This is a special show for Julian – the first time he performed at DMS was in their 2004 production of ‘Oliver!’ when he was a young schoolboy. We look forward to seeing Julian’s directing talents come to fruition alongside those of Chrissy O’Neill’s delightful choreography, and the musical magic of Hugh Humphreys. After some time away from DMS while he organized his career, and got married, we welcome Hugh back to the role of Musical Director.
This relatively young, but experienced production team, is strongly supported by Laura Murdocca, Millie Reid-Alvarez and Stephanie Quaglia. Dural Musical Society is very excited to be able to bring you a talented cast of young and not-so-young performers for three weekends of song, dance and all round fun.
Book your tickets now as they are selling quickly – this is a show that the whole family can enjoy. You do not want to miss the opportunity to support the hard work of the cast and crew who can’t wait to bring you down the road to London for ‘Oliver!’ Why not arrange a group of friends (your own special ‘gang’) to come along to an evening performance, or perhaps a Saturday or Sunday matinee.
