In June Glenorie Probus Club continued its aim of undertaking varied activities and went on an organized day to the Sydney Tramway Museum.
Following the coach trip to the Museum and morning tea there was a trip into the National Park on a 102 year old toast rack style tram. Then back to the Museum for a ride in the opposite direction on a different tram.
This was followed by a talk on the history of the museum and a guided tour with the opportunity to look at more than 30 trams and related vehicles including an 1898 prison van which transported felons from Darlinghurst Court House to Long Bay Goal.
Then back on the coach. This then took the members through the National Park and across the Audley Weir to Bundeena. A very nice lunch was had and then to the wharf for a ferry ride to Port Hacking. Then back on the coach for the trip back to Glenorie via the new fish markets (under construction). A very interesting and enjoyable day.
The clubs guest speaker for the month was Winston Reinboth who after 40 years in the tourism and hospitality industry is using his experience to develop a new App designed to make travel a “hassle free” experience. He is starting in NSW and will then expand it nationwide. He was looking for attendees to give their inputs on their highs and lows of travel to assist in the design of the App which can be reviewed at www.godrivin. A very interesting speaker.
The Club meets at 11.00am on the 4th Wednesday of the month at Glenorie RSL and new members are welcome.
