Pathways to Freeways Book Launch

Pathways to Freeways Book Launch
Mari Metzki (HSHS President), Philip Ruddock, Nathan Tilbury (the book’s author), Daniel Lovett
(Representative from NorthConnex) and James Wallace (Hornsby MP).

Last month the latest publication from the Hornsby Shire Historical Society was launch, Pathways to Freeways – a detailed history of the mains roads in the Hornsby Shire.

Former Mayor and Federal MP Philip Ruddock was on hand to deliver a zesty speech and perform the official duty of launching the book on behalf of the historical society.

Pathways to Freeways is the latest work of the Historical Society’s long-time Vice President and local councillor, Nathan Tilbury.

Also in attendance at the launch were representatives from NorthConnex who generously supported the project by sponsoring the initial print run. This allows the Historical Society to donate copies to local schools and libraries, as well as offer the purchase of the book at an affordable price, with the funds generated going towards subsequent print runs of future publications.

Daniel Lovett from NorthConnex said “It is very important for local history to be recorded and shared. This book on the history of the area’s roads was a great opportunity for NorthConnex to get involved with our support.”

This book details the mains roads right across the Hornsby Shire and includes many quality historical photos from the recently released Transport for NSW archives.

Enquiries regarding the purchase of the Pathways to Freeways book for $50 can be made by contacting Nathan at [email protected] or 0403 227 560 with free delivery for anyone in the Hornsby Shire.
