COVID-19 (Omicron) Continues to Bring Challenges in 2022

While studies are reporting that the Omicron strain is less severe than its predecessors, it is disrupting businesses and organisations worldwide. In particular, many businesses, Council included, are dealing with supply chain interruptions and staff shortages.

Mayor will be working with the General Manager of The Hills Shire Council to ensure they minimise disruptions and continue to run our services as close to normal as possible. However, impacts are being felt across the organisation and our library branches will need to alter operating hours to deal with staff shortages.

From Monday, January 10, our library branches (including Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, Dural and Vinegar Hill Memorial Library at Rouse Hill Town Centre) will be running at reduced hours. In addition to this, Dural Library will temporarily close on Saturday, January 8.

I encourage library members to access resources online and through the free Hills Shire Library app which can be downloaded through the App Store and on Google Play. For library opening hours and updates, please visit: https://www.thehills.nsw.gov.au/Library

Public health and safety is a top priority for this Council, as well as the health and wellbeing of our Council Officers. Every effort to protect the community and our Officers from this highly transmissible disease has been carried out, including minimising staff and public contact, ensuring Officers have access to face masks, social distancing is carried out, hand sanitiser is available and QR code check-ins are available upon entry to our facilities.

Mayor encourages residents to continue to follow the Public Health Order, wear a mask and to practice social distancing and good hygiene.

He also encourages residents to support small businesses. This is a particularly challenging time for local businesses and eateries, especially as many of them are re-establishing themselves in the marketplace after what has been an incredibly hard two years.

One of the best ways we can help during this time is to continue to shop online and grab some takeaway. We have a great network of parks, playgrounds and open space facilities where you can enjoy a picnic in a safe, outdoor setting.

Please keep safe and remember to check-in on family and friends. This is a hard time for all of us, but we know that together we will get through this.
