News from Galston High School

ANZAC Day service at Galston High School

Galston High School’s ANZAC Day service was held before the school holidays this year, due to the timing of the public holiday. Our school hall resounded with the sound of the Hills District Pipe Band’s bagpipes as they led in the official party. The key address was by Captain Ian Carter ADF who focused on the views of the veterans, while Holly and Maggie from Year 10 presented an outstanding speech focusing on the historical perspective of the day. We were honoured to have the Rowland Village choir perform once again, very fittingly singing ‘Hang out the Washing on the Siegfried Line’ and ‘A Brown Slouch Hat’.

Our prefect team has also attended a number of services in our community of schools including Dural, Galston, Kenthurst and Arcadia Public Schools as well as the Galston and Glenorie services on ANZAC Day.

World’s Greatest Shave

A fantastic group of our students shaved their heads and dyed their hair to support the Leukemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave in 2018. Congratulations to the following brave students who, as a group raised an amazing $8,404, breaking last year’s record by $3,000. Congratulations to Grace Waters, Joshua Currie, James Todman, Daniel Romic, Emily Woods, Trinity Newbury, Lachlan O’Connell, Rachel McClellan, Amy Yu. Djay Parnell, and our new mathematics teacher, Mr Price. A special congratulations to Mr Gage for finally having his man bun shaved off!

The SRC would like to thank everyone for their support of the World’s Greatest Shave at Galston High this year.

A special thank you to Lisa Dower, an ex-student of Galston High School, who volunteered her time on her day off to support our school. We appreciated her time and enthusiasm.
