News from, Galston High School

Congratulations to two outstanding members of the Galston High School community, Year 12 students Chloe Lawler and Callum Trethowan, who were recognised for demonstrating excellence across a number of areas including academic, sporting, cultural, community and leadership. As the proud recipients of the Minister’s Award for Excellence in Student Achievement, Chloe and Callum were also honoured to deliver the vote of thanks on behalf of all the award winners.

The ceremony took place in the lower Town Hall and the presentations were made by Mark Scott AO, Secretary of the NSW Department of Education and the Hon Rob Stokes MP, NSW Minister for Education.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Dural and Leanne Hall, an experienced psychologist and well-known media identity, for a fascinating and informative presentation and question time on how we can all build resilience, and how we can help to build resilience in our own children. The presentation was well-attended by parents from Galston High School as well as our community of schools.

Internationally renowned author and Children’s Laureate for 2018- 2019 – Morris Gleitzman – visited our library to share the secrets to his creative writing process and answer questions on some of his most popular books. The 130 Galston students who were joined by 20 primary students from the Galston Community of Schools, were captivated by Morris’ speech and were able to have personal copies of his books signed.
