There is an impressive new bushwalk recently completed by Hornsby Council that also provides an important pedestrian link between Dural with Cherrybrook, via a magnificent steel swing bridge over Pyes Creek.
This Pyes Creek Elevated Walkway project was funded through a NSW Government grant via the Public Spaces Legacy Program. This program has the objective to provide long-term value by funding new high-quality public and open spaces. Two other projects in the Hornsby Shire that funded through this program, and were opened earlier this year, were the new pathway around Lower McKell Park, Brooklyn and the Westleigh bushland lookout just off Quarter Sessions Road.
The low-profile single span swing bridge for pedestrians connects with new walking tracks that include sandstone and raised platforms in Pyes Creek Bushland and has created an adventurous treetop walk over looking the picturesque Pyes Creek below.
The local State MP, Matt Kean, has been keenly awaiting the completion of this project had the opportunity to check it out last week. He said, “I recently went for a walk on the impressive new elevated swing bridge across Pyes Creek in Cherrybrook, that has just been constructed by Hornsby Council. Funded through a NSW Government grant, and delivered together with an impressive new bushwalk, this new pedestrian bridge provides an important link between south Dural, via Fallon Drive Reserve, and Keighran Place, Cherrybrook. I am certain that this will be a well-used facility.”
Signage will be installed to compliment and assist usage of the new facility. The project creates great value for the community now and into the future for generations to come.
