Anna and I created My Story out of a desire to provide personal, flexible service for families. During our years working as colleagues we often discussed the needs of individual children and families and how important it was to have the autonomy to ensure their holistic wellbeing. It struck us that childcare, due to its very nature, is – and has to be a bespoke service.

Our first trip to this site in Dural surprised us. As we drove into the large business park we were uncertain about how the physical environment would present itself. We were blown away. At the end of the driveway, behind the business park, this centre was nestled like an oasis in the bushland. The outdoor yards looked out over bush and creeks with nothing to be heard but children’s laughter and the whistling of bellbirds.

This ’sanctuary’ made an impression on Anna and I that we couldn’t forget. We visited many other services through the assistance of a broker but we kept coming back. The feelings of safety, seclusion, wonder and belonging elicited in us could only be perfect for children as they engage in experiences that will shape their dispositions for the rest of their lives.

As we began our journey looking for the perfect site we also began a journey searching for the perfect name to reflect our philosophy. ‘My Story – Experiential Early Learning’ was settled on because of its connotations; uniqueness, journeys, progress, individuality, engagement, literacy, excitement…

These words represent the offering of Education and Care for young children at My Story. As mothers ourselves Anna and I look for empathy and understanding in the services we engage, and that’s why your family will receive the same attention at My Story. We believe our community of care will become invaluable to you, your child – indeed your whole family – because it is the support we depend upon ourselves. We look forward to being part of the ‘Village’ that protects, nurtures and encourages your child.
