Local Junior, Lachy Shaw Makes his NSW Cricket Debut

By James Wallace, Hornsby MP

Congratulations to local cricketer, Lachy Shaw for his selection in the NSW One Day team and the Sheffield Shield match for their clashes against South Australia at the Adelaide Oval recently.

Lachy is a 21-year-old batsman/ wicket keeper from the Northern District Cricket Club and has earnt his selection with a mountain of runs for his club’s First Grade team, coupled with his quality work behind the stumps.

Identified early as a talented junior cricket Lachy worked his way through the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai and Hills District Cricket Association representative teams before being picked up by the Rangers and going on to be selected for the Australian Under 19s team World Cup team in February 2022.

Another local junior on the cusp of State selection is Lachy’s Northern District teammate and Mt Colah resident, Corey Miller (also 21), who played a Second eleven match for NSW recently.

I wish Lachy Shaw all the best with his State debut and fully expect to read much more about his and Corey’s performances on the cricket field into the future.
