Kenthurst Rotary Raises Funds and Awareness for Mental Health and Polio Eradication

Members of the Kenthurst Rotary Club have been busy fundraising and spreading awareness for two important causes – mental health and the eradication of polio worldwide.

This month, Rotarians donned their most creative and colourful headwear for “Hat Day”, part of Australian Rotary Health’s Lift the Lid on Mental Illness campaign. The event raised much-needed funds for mental health research, while also sparking conversations about the importance of reducing stigma and supporting those living with mental health challenges.

Hat Day is always a fun event with a serious purpose and every dollar raised goes directly to vital research that helps improve mental wellbeing across Australia.

In addition to supporting mental health, the club also turned its attention to Rotary’s global fight to end polio. Our Rotary District held a special train ride fundraiser, travelling together across the Sydney rail network to raise awareness and funds for PolioPlus. This initiative contributes to Rotary International’s decades-long commitment to eradicating polio – a disease that is now 99.9% eliminated worldwide.

Rounding out the month’s efforts, members enjoyed a charity Polio Plus movie night, combining fellowship with fundraising. Proceeds from the evening went toward Rotary’s community service projects, helping those in need both locally and internationally.

“These events remind us that even small actions, wearing a hat, riding a train, watching a film, can make a big difference when done together for a cause – it’s a testament to the Rotary spirit of service above self.
