After 17 years at the helm, Ian Browning has passed the torch as Curator of Netherby Homestead, with Berrilee resident Julie Graham stepping into the role.
Mr Browning, a long-standing Arcadian resident, recently joined Hornsby Council’s Heritage Advisory Committee as a community representative. He will continue his involvement with the Friends of Fagan Park (FOFP) as a dedicated volunteer.
Ms Graham has been a member of the FOFP for just two years but has already made a significant impact. She played a key role in restoring a neglected room in the Hudson Building, transforming it into a faithful recreation of Bruce Fagan’s office. Under her guidance, the homestead’s rooms have been meticulously styled and finished to reflect the historical period. She has also refreshed signage and information sheets, and compiled a comprehensive volunteer guidebook for the property.
A former primary school teacher with more than three decades of experience, Ms Graham also served as President of the Hills Historical Society for ten years. As the homestead’s main guide, she takes pleasure in sharing her knowledge with visitors, bringing the property’s rich history to life.
Vern Sotter will continue as Assistant Curator, while Allan Chadwick has been appointed Honorary Assistant Curator.
The Friends of Fagan Park remain committed to preserving and promoting Netherby Homestead and its precinct, with plans for an exciting program of new events in 2026.
