Glenorie Bakery is proud to announce that we have reached our Invictus Games fundraising target of $20,000!!!
We started with a goal of $10,000, then raised the bar to $20,000. By the time of the closing ceremony on 27th October we got to $17,000 but decided to continue on with our fundraising to ensure we would reach our target! Last week we achieved our goal and on November 15th 2018, Rob Pirina from Glenorie Bakery had the honour of handing over our $20,000 cheque to Patrick Kidd (CEO of the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 and Major General Fergus (Gus) McLachlan, AO (Australian Forces Commander).
Throughout our fundraising journey we have had the opportunity to host a local community event ‘The Invictus Pie Festival’ including guests such as Patrick Kidd (CEO of Invictus), Cobber the official mascot, our local school principal, mayor and politicians. Rob also had the opportunity of presenting the Invictus Games Australian team athletes with a personal taste of our Invictus Pies at the Academy of Sport and Recreation Centre, and was asked to represent the Honourable Dominic Perrottet MP (Treasurer, Minister for Industrial Relations, Member for Hawkesbury) at the official UK Invictus Team Welcome Reception held by The British High Commissioner, Her Excellency Mrs Menna Rawlings CMG.
It has been quite a journey and we would like to thank our local community, customers and the media for helping us reach our target of $20,000 for our unconquerable Australian Invictus Games Athletes.
