Orchids are among the most beautiful and diverse flowering plants, making them a popular choice for home gardeners. With over 25,000 species and many hybrids, there is an orchid to suit nearly every indoor environment. Common types such as Phalaenopsis (moth Orchid), Dendrobium, and Catleya are widely available and relatively easy to grow with the right care.

Orchids thrive in bright, indirect light and require good air circulation. They prefer a well-draining growing medium, typically bark or sphagnum moss, rather than soil. Watering should be done when the medium feels dry to the touch – overwatering is a common mistake, Feeding with a balanced, diluted orchid fertiorlizer every few weeks during active growth helps promote healthy blooms.

Temperature and humidity are also important. Most orchids prefer daytime temperatures of 20-25 degrees and slightly cooler nights, with moderate humidity (around 50=70%). Grouping orchids together or placing them on a humidity tray can help maintain moisture levels. With little attention to their specific needs, orchids can reward home gardeners with long lasting, elegant flowers and a touch of the exotic indoors.
