Celebrate Community this October with Hello Hornsby

Hornsby Shire residents of all ages are being invited to take part in a series of community events this October designed to bring people together and support wellbeing across the region.

The events form part of the Hello Hornsby program, which first began in 2022 as an initiative for residents over 60. Today, it has grown to include youth, carers, families, and people living with a disability, offering activities for everyone in the community.

Pizza Pop Up for Mental Health Month
On Wednesday 1 October at Galston Skate Park and Wednesday 8 October at Berowra Skate Park, the community is invited to enjoy free pizza and cold drinks between 12pm and 1pm. These events aim to provide a relaxed space for people to meet others, share resources, and learn more about local health and wellbeing activities. No bookings are needed.

Carers Week Morning Teas
Carers play a vital role in the community, and Hornsby Shire is showing appreciation with two morning teas. On Tuesday 14 October, The Brook Eatery at Cherrybrook Shopping Village will host a gathering from 10am to 11.30am. Another event for people with dementia and their carers will take place at Hornsby Library on Friday 17 October from 10am to 11am. Both events are open for drop-ins.

HSC Afternoon Tea
Local students preparing for the HSC can take a break and enjoy a calm environment at Hornsby Library on Wednesday 22 October from 2.30pm to 4pm. Free refreshments will be provided, and the library will offer extra opening hours from 7 October to help students with study. Students are welcome to arrive between 9am and 9.15am on weekdays during this period.

Grandparents Day at Koala Park
Grandparents are encouraged to bring their grandchildren for a special day at Koala Park on Sunday 26 October. Free tickets are available online for entry between 9am and 11am, but spaces are limited.

Mayor Warren Waddell said the Hello Hornsby events reflect the council’s commitment to connecting the community.

“Hello Hornsby is about creating opportunities for people to come together, meet new friends, and enjoy life in our Shire,” he said.
