Hillside Public School has launched into the second half of the year with a dynamic mix of sport, learning, and community experiences that are giving students plenty to smile about.
Sporting Programs in Full Swing
Last term, students embraced a diverse lineup of sporting activities, including golf, athletics, basketball workshops with Hoops Capital, and the ever-popular inter-school league-tag competition.
This term, the momentum continues with a fresh array of programs. Karate lessons are helping students build discipline, confidence, and coordination, while the school’s intensive swim program is sharpening essential water-safety skills. An upcoming NRL training session and gala day will bring local schools together for a full day of teamwork, energy, and skill-building on the field.
A Whole-School Day Out at Canoelands Orchard
One of the most anticipated events on the calendar is the whole-school excursion to Canoelands Orchard. The day promises an immersive blend of learning and fun, from feeding farm animals and riding tractors to enjoying team-building games. Students will also take part in an engaging bee and honey presentation, exploring the crucial role bees play in pollination and food production. The visit will wrap up with the hands-on delight of picking fresh fruit straight from the orchard trees.
Spelling Bee Stars Shine on the Regional Stage
Hillside’s academic achievements are shining just as brightly as its sporting ones. Congratulations go to Esther and Daniel, who represented the school at the Regional Finals of the Premier’s Spelling Bee. Esther’s remarkable performance earned her the title of Senior Champion for the region, securing her place at the State Finals at the Q Theatre in Penrith this month. With over a thousand schools taking part and only 64 advancing to the State Finals, it’s an exceptional milestone.
Welcoming Future Learners
Excitement is also building as Kindergarten Orientation begins, marking a special moment for incoming students and their families. With enrolments for 2026 now open, the school is looking forward to welcoming new families eager to join the Hillside community.
