A celebration of experience, service and connection will unfold across The Hills from 5 to 12 March as the annual Seniors Festival returns with a comprehensive program of free events.
Targeted at residents aged 60 and above, the week-long initiative highlights the positive impact older Australians have in their local communities. In The Hills Shire, seniors represent a significant proportion of the volunteer workforce, with Council figures showing 77 per cent of volunteers fall within this age group.
The festival program reflects a broad approach to healthy ageing. Attendees can engage with professionals and community organisations at the Seniors Expo, improve flexibility and balance through Tai Chi sessions, or participate in a practical sustainability workshop. Social experiences also form part of the schedule, including a brunch gathering at Castle Hill RSL and a concert screening of Elvis Presley at Event Cinemas.
The Hills Shire Mayor, Dr Michelle Byrne, noted that the festival is designed to recognise the energy and commitment seniors bring to the region.
Through a blend of information, activity and entertainment, the event underscores the enduring role seniors play in shaping a vibrant and connected community.
