Hills Hawks Softball Club has had a fantastic start to the 2017/18 season. Our teams are having a great season, with all teams currently sitting in the top four in their competitions, ready to take on the finals after Christmas.
Hills Hawks has had success on a representative level with 28 players representing Hornsby District Softball Association at the NSW State Championships, ranging from Tee-ball to the Open age groups.
We have also had a number of players represent Sports Academy, State and National teams. Pitcher Jorja Barrett represented South West Academy of Sport and was selected in the NSW All Schools Softball Team – securing a spot in the All Australia team after winning the Pacific School Games in Adelaide.
Kandra Lamb also represented the NSW All Schools Softball Team, and will join Jorja in the All Australian Team. A grade pitcher Kandra was also selected in the Under 19s Australian Team for the 2017 World Championship, who played in Florida, USA earlier this year. 17-year-old Callista Gatt, who plays in our division 1 and A Grade teams, was awarded the Western Sydney Academy of Sport Softball Athlete of the Year Award.
We would also like to take the opportunity to thank our sponsor Bendigo Bank Galston Community Bank Branch for their continued support and sponsorship of our club. Bendigo Bank has been a major supporter of the club for many years and their generous sponsorship goes towards new equipment for the club, which our players and officials greatly appreciate.
