HILLS GRAMMARS NEWS

Another Festival of Fun at Hills Grammar

Hills Grammar didn’t miss a beat with their latest festival that celebrated fun, wellbeing and community. The School enjoyed a number of events, all aimed at providing methods to aide in physical and mental health. They opened the event to the greater community with a campus tour with Principal Mr Smith, who strived towards 10,000 steps while showing off the grounds. There was also nutritional talks, mindfulness talks, open classrooms and fitness classes held for parents, both past and present.

Meanwhile, students were able to enjoy a range of events, including a HealthBeat Showcase, and mindfulness exercises. Even the youngest Hills Grammar students in the Early Childhood Education Centre got into a positive headspace with the assistance of students from the Junior School. Then there was ‘Healthy Careers’ which welcomed back alumni to discuss their careers in health to the Senior School, while the Parents and Friends Association hosted Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.

The festival finished with a school wide choreographed dance that lead into a silent disco. What a positive way to help young minds grow and provide assistance for their futures, outside school life.

A Dramatic Date with Reality at Hills Grammar

Drama students from Hills Grammar recently attended the Sharp Short Theatre at Riverside Theatre, Parramatta. The event welcomed schools from across Sydney, and its greater regions to participate in a student lead performance.

Each group of students was required to direct and write the plays themselves, with no genre off limits. Hills Grammar students created a dramatic play titled ‘A Date with Reality’, and the entry was submitted by the Head of Drama, Stephen Clarke, who encouraged them along the way.

Brayden, Kristy, Alp, Emma and Jimmy delivered outstanding performances and did extremely well to reach the Grand Final, with judges describing the finale as being the strongest they’ve seen in years.

Despite the tough competition, Brayden was still to walk away from the evening with the ‘Best Director’ award.
