Twenty-one heritage buildings across the Hawkesbury will receive a share of $100,000 in Local Heritage Assistance Funding (LHAF) in the 2025/2026 financial year to help with maintenance and restoration.
The funding is aimed at supporting the preservation of some of the area’s most valued historic buildings.
The program recognises that heritage-sensitive repairs and restorations can be expensive, and provides financial assistance by generally covering 50 per cent of eligible costs on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
This support helps property owners maintain the historical character and integrity of their buildings while reducing the financial burden of careful restoration work.
The Hawkesbury LHAF, supported by Council and Heritage NSW, helps owners maintain and restore heritage buildings across the area. The program aims to keep these historic properties in good condition and preserve their unique character.
Owners or managers of heritage-listed properties, or those with potential for listing, can apply for funding. Applications closed on Sunday, 9 November 2025.
The properties receiving funding include privately owned homes, slab barns and other notable buildings, and are located across Pitt Town (5), Richmond (3), Windsor (3), and in Wilberforce, Richmond Lowlands, Ebenezer, Kurmond, Wrights Creek, St Albans, Agnes Banks, Pitt Town Bottoms and McGraths Hill.
Successful applicants will be required to work with Council to ensure the works are completed in line with funding guidelines and that the grant is spent appropriately. The program is part of Council’s ongoing commitment to preserving the Hawkesbury’s unique built heritage for future generations.
