The Hawkesbury region witnessed a remarkable display of community spirit during the 2025 Clean Up Australia Day. The Hawkesbury Council reported a successful event, with volunteers collecting an impressive 1.5 tonnes of litter from various sites throughout the local government area (LGA).
This year’s participation reached a record high, with 44 registered sites, marking a significant increase in engagement. The sites were diverse, encompassing 27 school clean-ups, 14 community locations, and 3 business-led initiatives.
Dedicated individuals contributed their time and effort to clean up locations like Pughs Lagoon (Smith Park), Bounty Reserve, Glossodia Community Centre, Navua Reserve, Fitzroy Bridge Windsor, Yarramundi Reserve, Matheson Park, Kurrajong, Laurence Street Reserve, and Colo Park.
The Council expressed profound gratitude to the Hawkesbury community for their ongoing commitment to the annual event, acknowledging their vital role in maintaining the region’s natural beauty and minimizing litter.
To further promote a litter-free environment throughout the year, residents are encouraged to utilize the NSW Environment Protection Authority’s (NSW EPA) “Report a Tosser!” platform when witnessing littering from vehicles.
