Hawkesbury City Council Launches Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2026 – 2028
Hawkesbury City Council has launched its first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) for 2026 – 2028, showcasing its commitment to enhancing relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Hawkesbury Local Government Area (LGA).
Officially endorsed on 14 October, the RAP is available for public exhibition until 19 November 2025, inviting community feedback and engagement.
Developed in collaboration with local First Nations communities, the RAP outlines four key pillars—Relationships, Respect, Opportunities, and Governance—to guide the Council’s actions toward Reconciliation.
This region is home to the Dharug and Darkinjung peoples, who have been custodians of the land for over 65,000 years. Approximately 3,252 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals live in the Hawkesbury, making up 4.8% of the population, which is higher than the NSW average.
The RAP is a vital step in recognising the history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and working together for a more inclusive future. Your feedback and engagement are essential to this journey.
