The vibrant artistry of Handmade Quilts is delivering more than just warmth to families in need across Sydney. Members of the Arcadian Quilting.
Quilters group are stitching comfort and security into every panel, creating colourful and utterly charming pieces designed to bring a smile to children who have experienced hardship.
These cheerful designs, featuring motifs like cheeky alpacas and brilliant native birds, are being channelled directly to Women’s Shelter Housing and safe family homes, where children are often at the heart of the community’s support efforts.
This initiative provides deep satisfaction to the dedicated members, knowing their contributions are working for others in vulnerable circumstances. Despite the recent run of dull and wet weather, joy and warmth are guaranteed for the lucky recipients of these beautiful creations.
The busy hands and clever minds of the A.C. quilters consistently produce works that inspire admiration, showcasing remarkable skill and community spirit. The group recently shared insights into the broader world of needlecraft, with one long-term member discussing how her working life in dress salons initially sparked a lifelong love of sewing, a passion she now happily shares with the quilting group.
The A.C. Quilters continue to meet at the Community Health Centre, The Glade, Galston. For further community information, contact Carole on 9894 7749.
