It will be a welcome relief for the people of The Hills to see this long awaited work be completed, especially for those in the northern part of the shire. The Hills Shire Council are also the beneficiaries of funding provided through the NSW Government West Invest Community project grants program announced recently. This will deliver transformational projects that will help The Hills Shire to provide local infrastructure that will benefit the local community. These include:
1. $5million for Autism Spectrum Australia to provide and new autism specific primary school in the Box Hill education precinct
2. $600,000 for Hills Community Aid and Information Services to deliver the Balcombe Heights Estate Centenary Sensory Garden and
3. $4.6million towards the Castle Hill Showground-pedestrian bridge project which will see the construction of a new pedestrian and cycling bridge which will allow the crossing of Showground Rd from the showground to Fred Caterson Reserve.
Additionally starting in Feb and July this year we have received funding for:
1. The upgrade of Annangrove Rd between the Water Lane and Murphy’s Bridge to provide a 4 lane sub-arterial road to facilitate the development of an extensive employment zone of around 100hectares. This will directly accelerate 4500 homes and create around 266 construction jobs
2. Box Hill- drainage and open space works which will accelerate 950 homes and create 30 construction jobs
3. Signalisation of the intersection at Mt Carmel Drive, Old Pitt Town Rd and Valetta Drive.
4. Construction of a dual-lane roundabout at the corner of the Mason Rd, Old Pitt Town Rd and Nelson Rd intersection
5. Drainage works and construction of culvert crossing which will be built under the future Centaurus Way. These are the projects that will help increase and promote the liveability of our shire.
As a Hills Shire Councillor I am so proud to be a part of these fantastic opportunities and improvements to our area, and I look forward to making sure that these improvements continue into the future.
