Glenorie Rural Fire Brigade

Rod and Dane

Thank you, Rod Derriman: Captain 2020 – 2024

On behalf of all of us at Glenorie Rural Fire Brigade, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Mr Rod Derriman, as he has now stepped down from Captain to Senior Deputy Captain.

Rods term as Captain from 2020 to 2024, was remarkable. He guided us through some challenging times during Covid, and his exemplary leadership skills made us stronger and brought us closer together as a team. He was always thinking outside the square, constructing strategies to improve the brigade, obtaining new appliances and most importantly, ensuring that our training was of the utmost highest level.

Rod was a firm believer in leading by example and with his extraordinary skill set and experience coupled with a strong moral compass, he led the way as our Captain with the utmost respect. Rod is all about lifting people up, encouraging members to have a go, and to practice, practice, practice. He understands the importance of training and continually improving our skill sets so that we are well equipped with serving our community.

Rod was not only a phenomenal Captain, he is also an exceptional human being. He genuinely cares about our brigade family and went above and beyond to ensure that his team were happy, as did his lovely wife Gaynor Derriman. A Captains job is almost impossible without the support of their family, and Gaynor is not only a huge support, she is also a valued member of our brigade.

What a CAPTAIN!

Glenorie Fire Station Open Day
We would like to invite you to our annual open day at Glenorie Fire Station on 3rd August from 10:00am – 2:00pm. This is the ultimate day to come and meet some of our brigade crew, be shown around the fire trucks and see how a fire station operates. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer member of NSW RFS, our open day is the perfect time to have a chat with us. We look forward to seeing you there.
