Glenorie Fire Station OPEN DAY
Make sure on Sunday 17th September you put a note in your calendar to come in to Glenorie Fire Station and see how everything works. At the same time, you can ask our members any questions that you may have and learn knowledge on how you can get ready for the bush fire season, have a look at all our appliances (the kids can even get in the Fire Truck!) and if you are interested, even speak to us about joining! We will be there from 10am – 2pm and hope to see you all there!
Call to Air Conditioning Fire
On a quiet Sunday afternoon during the month the pagers went off. The members drove to the station and had to respond to reports of an air conditioning fire in a residence in Glenorie. RFS members put on their breathing apparatus gear and responded to the location of the call. Upon arrival, the fire had already been extinguished thanks to the quick-thinking resident. Luckily the resident had previously purchased a Fire Extinguisher and managed to stop the fire from spreading to the rest of the house. It is a timely reminder that we urge all residents to ensure they have a Fire Extinguisher and Fire Blanket. You may need it when you least expect.
Nothing closer than a metre to the heater
Yes, it is cold and yes, it is hard to dry the clothes and keep warm. It is still very important to remember that heaters can be very dangerous. At all times make sure any heating appliance is kept out in the open, away from walls and not covered by clothes etc. The safest way to remember how close things can be from the heater is to remember nothing closer than a metre to the heater.
