Glenorie Progress Association

WHO ARE WE?
Glenorie Progress Association is a group of local residents who care about our community. We are dedicated to shaping change in our community for good. We are fortunate to have Councillors of both local Councils as members or as regular attendees at our meetings. We know that, unless the Association represents the views of the Glenorie Community and acts as an effective voice, the interests of The Community will not be as well represented with impending change. Change is coming and we are dedicating to shaping it for the benefit of the residents of Glenorie. Change for good for all ages, all occupations, all types of families and households represented in the Glenorie area.

This group of residents, many of whom have lived in Glenorie for 30 + years, is also loving having some new locals join our association. We differ in our opinions and can certainly have some robust conversations but we are united on one front… Our Community. We are blessed to live in the rural jewel of Sydney – with its rural feel, well planned town centre and amazing community spirit.

For more than 130 years, we have provided a voice for the community on local issues. If you are passionate about our community and seeing change for good we would love you to join us.

You can attend the next GPA meeting 7:15PM Thursday 9 March at Glenorie RSL. Become a member online: https://www.glenorieprogress.org/membership

LES SHORE PAVILION BUILDING
We are grateful for the hard work of our Association member, Amanda, who has been doing an amazing job trying to get government commitment to invest and improve the Glenorie Les Shore Oval Pavilion Building. This will be a great improvement for our locals.

The Hills Council have advised that the funds are in the current budget and that upgrades to the building will be completed this year. Upgrade works will in include refurbished bathrooms, change rooms, adding windows to the ground floor and ensuring the building is more accessible to all local members, including mobility impaired and prams. We are excited for the changes and grateful to The Hills Shire Council for investing in this project.

OUR KOALAS ARE BACK!
We love getting our environment update from long-time local and environment guru Pat. She brought some exciting news this month. We have collected evidence of local koala scratchings and audio recordings showing koalas are back in Glenorie! We love encouraging their return and would love to get families and locals keeping an eye and ear out for these incredible animals. Google Koala sounds and get the kids listening and looking out for these furry friends. Let’s save our Australian Icons in Glenorie. If anyone has seen or heard koalas in recent years (or thinks they might have) please contact Hills-Hornsby Rural Koala Project, HHRKP, working as a sub-group of Cattai Hills Environment Network (CHEN) and can be contacted through CHEN, through our Facebook page or by phone on 0424 844 740.

COMMUNITY DEFIBRILLATOR (AED) PROJECT
It’s wonderful that our locals and incredible Glenorie Rural Fire Brigade have once again supported a lifesaving local initiative. The Glenorie Rural Fire Brigade members are proud to a part of this program to help save lives. The latest AED is located under the annexe at the south western end of the station (near Les Shore Oval) and is available to the community in case of emergency. The GPA is working with the Community Defibrillator Project team to develop a printed map to show, at a glance, where the AEDs are located.

We are really looking forward to more installations around Glenorie. Want to find out how you can support the project in our area? Contact the team at Community Defib Project today [email protected] To view locations, visit AED Locations – Community Defib Project

We hope to see you at our next meeting!
